Bible Protection Dashboard

Fail closed: Scripture in Context checks each stored Bible against its approved fingerprint, verse count, and a sample verse. It independently checks a protected recovery copy. If both copies fail, that Bible is blocked; AI cannot supply replacement Scripture wording.

The English KJV copy was derived from CrossWire’s KJV module. CrossWire did not certify this website, its integrity checks, its generated studies, or the other Bible editions.

Select “Run Protection Audit” to check every installed Bible and its recovery copy.

Administrator review procedure: run this audit after every Bible-file update, after a security incident, and at least monthly. Investigate any yellow or red result before publishing studies in that language. Keep the approved source package and fingerprints outside the public website as an additional offline backup.

How Scripture in Context Works

1. Resident Bible wording is protected

The selected Bible text is stored with this website and checked locally against fixed fingerprints, its expected verse count, and John 3:16. A separately compressed recovery copy is checked independently. AI cannot write, replace, or approve Bible wording.

2. AI research is kept separate

When hosted research is available, AI helps organize historical, language, cultural, and application material. The application retrieves displayed Bible quotations from the selected verified resident corpus and checks the final output again before sharing.

3. What CrossWire does—and does not do

The resident English KJV corpus was derived from CrossWire’s KJV module. CrossWire does not certify this application, its AI-assisted commentary, its generated studies, or the other resident Bible editions. Those editions use the source and license named on the Language Demonstration page.

4. You make the final judgment

Integrity checks show whether stored Bible files match the approved copies; they do not establish whether commentary is doctrinally or historically correct. You, the reader—not AI—make the final judgment after examining Scripture in context.

Get More Read Aloud Voices

EWCRS uses voices installed on your computer and made available by its operating system. EWCRS does not sell, bundle, or download voice files.

On a Mac

  1. Open System Settings, then select Accessibility.
  2. Select Read & Speak.
  3. Beside System voice, open the voice information and choose an additional voice to download.

On Windows

  1. Press Windows + Ctrl + N to open Narrator settings.
  2. Under Narrator voice, choose Add natural voices and install the voice you want.
  3. For other Windows voices, open Add legacy voices, then Manage voices and Add voices.

After installing a voice, return here and refresh the list. If it does not appear, restart EWCRS. Voice availability and quality vary by operating system and language. Some accessibility-only voices may not be exposed to EWCRS.

  1. The selected verified Bible corpus is the text authority. Scripture wording comes from the integrity-checked edition shown in the language selector, not from an AI model’s memory.
  2. Commentary wording is never the Bible-text authority. EWCRS uses each reference to retrieve the final Bible text from the verified web corpus.
  3. Every cited reference is machine-checked. A book, chapter, verse, or range that does not exist is rejected.
  4. Supporting Scriptures receive the same protection. Their references are validated and their displayed wording is retrieved from the verified corpus.
  5. Scripture is separated from explanation. Headings, connective sentences, historical details, language observations, and conclusions are AI-assisted study material—not Scripture.
  6. The finished result receives a final safety pass. Every displayed quotation is compared with the selected integrity-checked corpus. When English KJV is selected, every UKJV change, marker, and footnote is independently regenerated and checked. A discrepancy prevents the current study from becoming Ready to Share.

This safeguard verifies quoted Scripture and cited references. It does not make AI commentary infallible. Evaluate every explanation and conclusion against Scripture in context.

Dictation Review

After you select Stop Dictation, the short recording is sent securely to OpenAI for transcription. EWCRS does not save the audio recording. Review or correct the transcript before it is inserted or used. Nothing changes until you select Use This.

If you leave Scripture blank, it first asks for candidate references only, verifies them locally, and then sends the verified Primary Scripture reference, selected Bible text with nearby context, selected language, and selected research options for the study. When Add or Revise needs hosted AI, EWCRS also sends the current study body and your revision instruction. After Stop Dictation, the short recording and selected language are sent securely to OpenAI for transcription; EWCRS does not save the audio recording, and the transcript is shown for review before use. Image creation sends only the study title, Topic, Primary Scripture reference, optional custom image description, and visual choices—not the full study text. Editing also sends the prior image and your requested change. If a newly generated image duplicates an earlier image, EWCRS may make one separately charged retry using different composition directions. Research requests use no persistent OpenAI response storage. OpenAI may retain API content temporarily in abuse-monitoring logs under its data-control policy. Why This App Uses Yeshua (Jesus)

  

    
Yeshua is the Hebrew/Aramaic form of the name known in English as Jesus. The name is connected with the biblical message that the LORD saves, reflected in Matthew 1:21: “for he shall save his people from their sins.”

    
The English form Jesus came through the Greek Iēsous and the Latin Iesus. Jesus is not treated as an incorrect name. It is the familiar English form used by the KJV and by Christians throughout the English-speaking world.

    
EWCRS normally writes Yeshua (Jesus) at the first mention and Yeshua afterward. This keeps the identity unmistakably clear while honoring His first-century Jewish setting and the saving meaning associated with His name.

    
This choice is intended to add historical and biblical context—not to divide believers over pronunciation or to suggest that salvation depends on using one English rendering of His name.

  

  


  
My EWCRS Journey

  

    
The Beginning of EWCRS

    
In my youth, I refused to believe in God because of the hypocrisy I saw in the churches my mother dragged me to. I would follow along in the Bible as the preacher emphasized his points. Instead of stopping where he stopped, however, I kept reading. I often discovered that the passage in context did not say exactly what the preacher claimed it said.

    
Every religious group seemed to say, “We are the chosen ones, and if you do not believe as we do, you are going to hell.” I wanted no part of that.

    
I lived life as I chose, including cheating people. Eventually, I rented an airless paint sprayer and moved to California. It was not long before I was arrested. While sitting in the back of that police car, I gave my life to Christ.

    
I told Yeshua that I was going to research the Bible for myself and believe only what I found supported in Scripture.

    
Back in the 1970s, after becoming a Christian, I took a chain-reference Bible and carefully wrote out the Sermon on the Mount. I then inserted every applicable chain reference into the text so the related Scriptures could be read together and understood in context.

    
I published the completed work as a small booklet titled Jeans Us Who? Using a dot-matrix printer, I printed copies and passed them out to others.

    
After I was ordained through the Lighthouse Gospel Fellowship, I started Oklahoma’s first Christian-themed Bulletin Board System, called Rock Island (on) Line 147/3. I also established an online discussion area called Cult Watch and invited everyone to participate and share.

    
As technology developed, I began using computer software to gather and organize related Scriptures in context. I published what I found without adding my own opinions, allowing Scripture to speak for itself.

    
That was the beginning of EWCRS—the Expand With Cross-References System.

    
From EWCRS to Scripture in Context

    
My work with ChatGPT began during the GPT-3.5 era in 2022. From those early conversations onward, most of my work with it centered on Bible research.

    
I was not simply looking for quick answers. I kept testing how an AI-assisted system could examine Scripture, follow cross-references, preserve the KJV text, explain uncommon language, and produce studies that remained accurate, spiritually useful, and biblically accountable.

    
Grok has also been used as an additional research and comparison tool while EWCRS has continued to develop and be evaluated.

    
From conversations to a repeatable system

    
Repeated Bible studies revealed the need for a consistent method. That method became EWCRS: the Expand With Cross-References System. Rules were added for structure, supporting Scriptures, quotations, Yeshua-centered terminology, authorized modernization, uncommon-word explanations, conclusions, and ministry-ready presentation.

    
From a system to an application

    
Each difficulty helped shape a feature. Scripture-reference mistakes led to reference checking and a packaged KJV. Inconsistent formatting led to validation and repair safeguards. Revisions led to Add or Revise, Undo, comparison, and revision history. The danger of losing work led to autosave and recovery copies.

    
The practical ministry workflow added Facebook preview and copying, saved studies, TXT, HTML, DOCX, and ZIP exports. Dictation, voice choices, Read Aloud, larger text, accessibility controls, image creation, guided mode, and searchable biblical references made the system more useful to more people.

    
Scripture in Context is the result of that continuing journey: years of Bible research, repeated testing, correction, and a desire to create a dependable tool that supports careful study without replacing Scripture.

    
The app continues to evolve, but its purpose remains the same—to help people study deeply, verify carefully, and share faithfully.

The resident English KJV Scripture corpus used by EWCRS is derived from the CrossWire Bible Society King James Version (KJV) module, Version 3.1, based substantially on the 1769 Oxford Edition of the King James Version (Authorized Version).

The Japanese Freedom Bible is also designated public domain by its distributor, eBible.org, but its publisher explicitly calls it a draft translation. Scripture in Context has not independently reviewed its translation quality. CrossWire KJV

  

    
EWCRS uses a resident complete 66-book KJV biblical-text corpus derived from the CrossWire Bible Society KJV module, Version 3.1, as its default English Scripture text. EWCRS uses only the plain verse text; it does not incorporate the module’s embedded Strong’s numbers, morphology, margin notes, footnotes, headings, red-letter markup, catchwords, or separate CrossWire reference works.

    
All file-integrity, reference, and displayed-quotation verification is performed locally by EWCRS against that resident corpus. CrossWire does not review, certify, endorse, or verify the studies generated by EWCRS.

    
Are There Errors?

    
No electronic transcription should be assumed to be error-free. CrossWire openly documents revisions, known textual issues, and errata for its KJV source. Version 3.1 included textual and markup corrections to the upstream module.

    
Some differences readers may notice are also legitimate differences between historical Oxford and Cambridge KJV editions, rather than errors.

    
EWCRS does not allow AI to rewrite or silently correct Scripture. When English KJV is selected, Scripture displayed by EWCRS comes from its approved resident KJV corpus; other languages come from the selected approved resident corpus. Any discovered discrepancy should be verified and documented.

All image requests share the ministry’s daily and monthly budget safeguards, are limited to 8 requests per hour and 10 per day for each visitor, and stop after 10 total image requests per day across the public site. The API key is never sent to this browser.
